Options for upgrading the scoreboard in Tiger Arena was the topic of a 25-minute presentation by athletic director Bryan Wormley at Monday night’s Nevis School Board meeting.

He said with a basketball shot clock requirement coming down the road, it might be time to look at upgrading to a new scoreboard. He said the Scorevision option is less expensive than Daktronic and incorporates newer technology.

Wormley said Walker-Hackensack-Akeley School District has a 15-by-8-foot monitor on one end of the gym and a 10-by-6-foot monitor on the other end.

The Scorevision options range around $90,000 for two 10-by-6-foot scoreboards, while in comparison Daktronic would be approximately $110,000. Advertising by local businesses on the scoreboards could help offset the cost.

“We haven't decided on anything yet,” Wormley said after the meeting. “We were just giving the board information on a Scorevision as an option as they are used to Daktronic. We are definitely shopping, but we haven't decided on a price point, as of yet, or brand.”

The month of May is packed with activities, starting with the honors breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, May 5.

The fifth and sixth grade music concert will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, and on Monday, May 9 the grades 7-12 music concert is at 7 p.m. Both concerts are in the original gym.

Special Olympics students are scheduled to compete in a track meet Thursday, May 12.

Students in grades K-5 have their annual track and field day scheduled for Friday, May 13, and prom will be held Saturday, May 14.with the grand march at 6 p.m. in Tiger Arena.

Senior recognition/scholarship awards night will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 17 in the small gym

Kindergarten graduation will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 18 in Tiger Arena

The final event for May will be high school graduation at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 28 in Tiger Arena.
