The Cougars (11-0) are looking to secure a spot in the 4A state championship game for the seventh consecutive season and for the 11th time in 12 years.

Karr won the state championship in 2012 and won four consecutive 4A state titles from 2016-19.

The Cougars fell to Carencro 35-19 in last year’s championship game in Natchitoches.

Karr is led by junior quarterback A.J. Samuel, along with former LSU commit Aaron Anderson and Yarun McMath at the wide receiver spots. Anderson is terrific in the kick return game as well. LSU commit Tygee Hill leads the way for the Karr defense.

Karr defeated Breaux Bridge 43-8, smashed Eunice 53-7 and downed Carver 33-7 in the playoffs.

Westgate has never won a state championship.

The Tigers (11-2) reached the Class 5A semifinals in 2007 and 2009.

Westgate is led by Cincinnati commit Danny Lewis and quarterback Jordan Doucet offensively. Doucet has rushed for 1,061 yards and 14 touchdowns and has passed for 1,504 yards and 15 touchdowns. Running back Steven Antoine has rushed for 986 yards and six touchdowns. Defensively, junior safety Derek Williams, who has a host of offers, including from LSU.
