After Nebraska’s close, late-game victory over Rutgers last week, the Huskers' short-lived winning streak ended on the road against Purdue University.

Nebraska (3-4) lost 43-37 against Purdue (5-2) in Mickey Joseph’s fourth game as interim head coach. After a scoreless start, the Huskers came back early in the second quarter with a two-yard rushing touchdown by Jaquez Yant.

Phalen Sanford found the hole in Purdue’s defense to record a successfully blocked punt, and his career-first punt block. It’s Nebraska’s third blocked punt of the season – their most since four in 2014.

Timmy Bleekrode drove the Huskers up the scoreboard with two first-half field goals, but not enough to take them off the Boilermakers’ trail going into halftime.

Nebraska kicked off the third quarter with a bang – Casey Thompson connected with Trey Palmer for a 37-yard touchdown pass.
