No. 2 Toms River North 70, Toms River East 6

Senior running back Connor Cilento ran for 119 yards and a touchdown on two carries and junior running back Jake Croce had a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown as the Panthers (7-0) rolled to a victory over the Bengals (3-4).

Croce ran for 50 yards and a touchdown and caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Matt Oliphant, who ran for 70 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries.

Point Boro recorded its fourth shutout of the season and was led by sophomore nose guard Slade Samaritano and senior defensive end Connor Reynolds with nine tackles each. Senior linebacker Tyler Gordon and JJ Bennett had eight tackles each.

No. 4 Donovan Catholic 23, No. 8 Jackson Memorial 0

The Griffins' defense turned in another dominant performance to down the Jaguars (5-2) and post their third shutout of the season.

Junior defensive lineman Zaire Day had a sack in the end zone that resulted in a safety, and from there Donovan (5-2) was off and running. Junior quarterback Todd Lambertson threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to sophomore wideout Michael Thomas III, Roman Moyers ran for a 56-yard touchdown, and freshman running back Najee Calhoun scored on a 10-yard run.

Calhoun ran for 80 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries and also ran for a 2-point conversion. Lambertson completed 12 of 18 passes for 84 yards and a touchdown and Thomas caught five passes for 33 yards and a score.

No. 5 Middletown South 41, Matawan 10

The Eagles (5-1) ran for over 250 yards and had five different players score rushing touchdowns in a dominant victory that snapped the Huskies' five-game winning streak.

Junior running back Donovan Summey had a 2-yard touchdown run, junior quarterback Jake Czwakiel ran for a 48-yard touchdown, sophomore running back Liam Curley ran for an 8-yard touchdown, junior running back Colin Gallagher ripped off a 45-yard touchdown run, and sophomore Brendan Sliva added an 11-yard touchdown run.

Czwakiel also threw a touchdown pass, connecting with senior Logan Colleran for a 21-yard score.

On defense, Gallgher had another big game at linebacker with 12 tackles, including two sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss. Sophomore linebacker Luke Wafle had seven tackles, one sacks, and 2.5 tackles for loss, Czwakiel intercepted a pass and had two pass deflections, Sliva recorded seven tackles, and Owen Richer made six tackles with one hit for a loss.

Sophomore running back Colin Palumbo led Matawan (5-2) with 210 yards rushing and scored a 25-yard touchdown. Jake Zibbell kicked a 25-yard field goal.

No. 6 Ocean 34, Middletown North 28 (OT)

Senior wide receiver CJ Flannigan scored on a 6-yard touchdown run in overtime for the game-winning score that lifted the Spartans (7-0) to a dramatic victory over the Lions (3-3).

Middletown North took a 28-21 lead in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run by James Barnao and the extra point by Ian Poole-Morgan, but Ocean answered on a 1-yard touchdown run by Caleb Thompson and the extra point by Michael Sorrentino to knot the score at 28 with 7:02 left in regulation. Middletown North then drove to the Ocean 10-yard line and attempted a 27-yard field goal as time expired, but Ocean brought pressure and the kick missed its mark wide left.

Middletown North had the ball first in overtime but was unable to come away with any points when on third down, Ocean senior defensive lineman Shane Garrett intercepted a screen pass that was deflected. On Ocean's overtime possession, senior quarterback Tyler Douglas had an 18-yard run and then a 6-yard run to set up Flannigan's winning score.

Douglas threw for 140 yards and a touchdown and ran for 67 yards, senior running back Caleb Thompson ran for 90 yards and two touchdowns, and senior wide receiver Mateo Andrews caught three passes for 137 yards and a touchdown. The scoring pass from Douglas to Andrews spanned 86 yards and came one play after an electric run by Douglas was called back. Junior running back Nick Iacouzzi also ran for a touchdown for Ocean.

Junior running back Neno Morgan-Acker ran for a game-high 179 yards and a touchdown for Middletown North, which ran the ball at will against Ocean's defense for much of the night. Junior running back James Barnao added 53 yards rushing and a touchdown and senior wide receiver Derek Soto caught four passes for 58 yards and a touchdown.

Junior quarterback Dom Beninato completed 7 of 10 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown and the Cougars (6-1) posted their first shutout of the season to push their winning streak to six consecutive games.

Senior Sal Marinello caught a 28-yard touchdown pass, junior running back Chris Scully ran for a touchdown, and junior Aidan Manasso kicked a 20-yard field goal. Wall did a good job bottling up Scully, who ran for just 67 yards on 21 carries for his first sub-100-yard game of the season, but he was still able to find the end zone for his 14th touchdown of the season. Scully has rushed for 1,128 yards on an average of 6.7 yards per carry this season.

No. 9 Raritan 47, Toms River South 6

Senior running back Kieran Falzon ran for 136 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries and senior Dan Calicari had a rushing touchdown and an interception return for a touchdown to power the Rockets (5-2) to a victory over the Indians (1-6).

Calicari ran for 68 yards and a touchdown on just two carries and also had a 23-yard reception. Sophomore Matthew Jones ran for 57 yards and a touchdown on four carries and junior Jayden Craft added a 9-yard touchdown run.

Senior running back Dominick Perrone ran for 134 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries and junior quarterback Nicholas Maertens tossed two touchdown passes as the Lions (2-5) shut out the Dragons (3-4) for their second win of the season.

Maertens completed 6 of 7 passes for 67 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 53 yards. Senior Diego Wolf and junior Trevor Santucci had touchdown receptions.

Senior quarterback Andy Falletta threw two touchdown passes to senior tight end Max DiPietro and the Rams' (4-3) defense forced four turnovers to down the Rebels (3-4) and continue their push toward the playoffs.

Falletta completed 4 of 7 passes for 68 yards and tossed scoring passes of 46 and 17 yards to DiPetro. The pair's 46-yard touchdown connection gave Southern a 7-0 lead and a safety in the second quarter made it 9-0. Howell answered on the final play of the first half when senior quarterback Jack Gartenstein threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to senior tight end Damian Padilla.

The score remained 9-7 in Southern's advantage until Falletta hit DiPietro for a 17-yard score in the fourth quarter.

Falletta also had an interception on defense, as did senior cornerback Kyle Caufield and senior linebacker Xander Murray, while senior strong safety Domenick Crisalli recovered a fumble.

Padilla caught six passes for 65 yards and a touchdown and junior wideout Kevin Maloney caught nine passes for 77 yards for Howell.

Junior kicker Luke Rubin connected on an 18-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Mustangs (4-3) to their first win over the Braves (3-4) in nearly three decades.

Junior quarterback Connor Dietz broke two school records with 385 yards rushing and seven touchdowns to lead the Mustangs (4-3) to a high-octane victory over the Golden Eagles (0-7).

Dietz carried 26 times and averaged 14.8 yards per carry. He also threw for 180 yards to account for a staggering 565 yards of offense. Sophomore running back Kevin Andrews added 118 yards rushing and a touchdown on 17 carries and also had three receptions for 44 yards. Senior Jeremiah Crispin led the receiving group with four catches for 84 yards. Jaason Whittaker added five receptions for 44 yards.

Dietz also had two interceptions on defense and kicked four extra points.

Senior quarterback Brett Patten and senior running back Jahmier Howard had a hand in all five touchdowns for the Warriors (3-3), who dominated the Blue Devils (5-2) to win their third game in a row.

Howard ran for 82 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries and caught two passes for 47 yards and a touchdown. He had rushing touchdowns of 44 and 5 yards and caught a 30-yard touchdown pass. Patten also tossed a 2-yard touchdown pass to JD Teza. Patten completed 9 of 16 passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 68 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Torey Falkinburg added 37 yards rushing on six carries and Jack Dettlinger caught two passes for 37 yards.

Terrance Marks led the Manasquan defense with two sacks and six tackles and Julian Whitehall recorded a team-high 10 tackles with one sack and a fumble recovery.

Shore scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns on a 17-yard run by Alex George and a 10-yard run by quarterback Ty Koch.
