But for this week’s biggest game involving ranked teams, there was no news on Friday since it was played on Thursday and saw Los Alamitos put on a show against Edison of Huntington Beach. The biggest winners on Friday were No. 5 Folsom, No. 9 Chaminade of West Hills plus top 25 bubble team Sierra Canyon of Chatsworth. A state top 50 bubble team with a big night was Campolindo of Moraga.

1. Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 8-0 Defeated No. 12 Orange Lutheran 48-16 on Friday night. The Monarchs racked up 10 sacks on defense with four of them coming from sophomore Nasir Wyatt. Elijah Brown had two TD passes and one TD run on offense.
2. St. John Bosco (Bellflower) 7-1 Defeated JSerra of San Juan Capistrano 31-0 at home on Friday night. Coming off of last week’s loss to Mater Dei, head coach Jason Negro’s bunch had no trouble with the Lions, who only lost to Mater Dei 21-13 two weeks ago.
3. Centennial (Corona) 7-1 Defeated Vista Murrieta (Murrieta) 42-7 on Friday. Some of the most memorable CIF section title games played by the Huskies were against Vista Murrieta in the early 2010s. We saw two of them. They’re now in the same league but are not on the same level.
4. Serra (San Mateo) 7-0 Defeated Archbishop Riordan (San Francisco) 45-7 on Saturday in San Francisco. Serra scored 24 points in the second quarter and eased up in the second half. The Padres host Valley Christian next Saturday. It was head coach Stephen Barbee’s birthday and it was a good one as Long Beach Poly rolled on with another easy Moore League victory. Folsom 7-1 The Bulldogs cleared up the Sierra Foothill League race with a 34-7 blowout of No. 28 Del Oro (Loomis) on Friday. QB Austin Mack had a hand in all five touchdowns for Folsom, as the junior connected on five touchdown passes in the victory.

6. Long Beach Poly (Long Beach) 8-0 Defeated Cabrillo of Long Beach, 49-0, on Friday at home. Darius Curry threw for six TDs in the easy win, which also came on head coach Stephen Barbee’s birthday. It still may be the week in which Los Alamitos has to move in front of the Jackrabbits.
7. Los Alamitos 6-2 Defeated No. 10 Edison (Huntington Beach), 52-27, on Thursday. Following the recent win against Santa Margarita, the Griffins impressed against a very good opponent. Malachi Nelson passed for 277 yards and three TDs. Damian Henderson battled an ankle injury but still ran for 257 yards, prompting L.A. Times’ writer Eric Sondheimer to wonder whether he’s the best back in Southern California.
8. Mission Viejo 7-1 Defeated No. 42 San Clemente, 49-14. The Diablos should now roll to the South Coast League title. They played at San Clemente, which historically has caused some problems for them. This time, Kadin Semonza passed for 383 yards and six TDs.
9. Chaminade (West Hills) 8-0 Defeated No. 27 Bishop Amat (La Puente) 36-29. In the first ever win by the Eagles at Amat, they led 22-0 and then surged back in front after the Lancers had tied the score at 22-22 in the second half. Marquis Gallegos came up with two of the team’s four interceptions.
10. Edison (Huntington Beach) 7-1 LOST to No. 7 Los Alamitos on Thursday, 52-27. The Chargers just had a tough time stopping all of the star power of the Griffins. We’ll see if they eventually drop out of the top eight for the CIFSS D1 playoffs and instead land in D2 although owning a win over Orange Lutheran and Orange Lutheran perhaps finishing third in the Trinity League might make that tough.
11. Inglewood 8-0 Defeated Leuzinger (Lawndale) 41-6. Jamari Johnson caught TD passes of 45 and 91 yards from Husan Longstreet and Kevin Longstreet had a pick six plus a 50-yard kickoff return to start the game. We know the Inglewood players not only want to put on a show vs the second best team in their league, but they also want to put up a winning score vs the Olympians that is bigger than when Leuzinger played Long Beach Poly and Mission Viejo.
12. Lutheran (Orange) 6-2 LOST to No. 1 Mater Dei, 48-16, on Friday at the Santa Ana Bowl. The team’s other loss is to Huntington Beach Edison. It has wins over Serra (Gardena) and Santa Margarita.
13. Serra (Gardena) 5-3* LOST on Friday at home to Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth). This loss on the field combined with that forfeit loss to Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) knocks the Cavaliers from Mission League title contention. If they drop in the rankings down to CIFSS D3, however, that actually worked out pretty good last year.
14. Santa Margarita (Rancho SM) 5-2* The Eagles hosted Servite (Anaheim) in the second of three home contests in a row and won, 56-14. Jaxon Potter had TD passes to Bain Eiseman, Emmett Mosley and Chase Jones to get things going. Potter ended with 5 TDs passing. Jones ended with two TD runs & TD catch.
15. St. Mary’s (Stockton) 8-0 The No. 2 team in the Sac-Joaquin Section remained undefeated, but the Rams received a large scare from a 6-1 Tracy side. The Bulldogs were up on the Rams for most of the first half, but St. Mary’s went into the break with a one point advantage. St. Mary’s would outpace Tracy 35-6 in the second half to roll to a 63-33 victory.
16. De La Salle (Concord) 4-3 California (San Ramon) was a pest early, but De La Salle (Concord) bounced back from loss to St. Mary’s with a 41-7 victory over the Grizzlies on Friday. Derrick Blanche was the only Spartan to score more than once as he rushed for a pair of scores.
17. JSerra (SJ Capistrano) 3-5 The gauntlet continued at No. 2 St. John Bosco on Friday and the Lions were shut out 31-0. They’ve now played Mater Dei, Bosco and Santa Margarita in the Trinity League and will look to close strong against Servite and Orange Lutheran. 18. Pittsburg 6-1 After a nail biter last week against Liberty (Brentwood), the Pirates had little trouble in a 51-0 blowout of Deer Valley (Antioch).
19. Lincoln (San Diego) 8-1 The Hornets had a home game Friday vs Scripps Ranch of San Diego and rolled to a 49-3 victory. KJ Chatham’s two TD passes and Christopher White’s touchdown on a blocked punt return helped Lincoln race out to an early lead.
20. Madison (San Diego) 8-0 Defeated St. Augustine of San Diego, 55-14, at home on Friday. In two weeks, the Warhawks will play Lincoln in a No. 1 vs No. 2 matchup in the CIF San Diego Section.
21. Carlsbad 7-1 Sad to see winless Oceanside as the foe on Friday as the Lancers posted an easy 55-7 triumph. They are expected to end the regular season with wins over La Costa Canyon (Carlsbad) and Vista and would then likely go to the CIF San Diego Section Open Division playoffs.
22. Warren (Downey) 7-1 It was rivalry week for the Bears against Downey on Friday where the records don’t matter and spirits are high on both sides of the field. Warren prevailed, 49-22, behind 243 yards passing and four TDs from QB Nico Iamaleava and two TD runs by Marcus Higgs.
23. Clovis West (Fresno) 8-0 There are no easy games in the Tri-River Athletic Conference, as Clovis West held on for a 21-14 victory over Clovis North (Fresno). Clovis West didn’t score in the second half.
24. West Ranch (Valencia) 9-0 This team wouldn’t be denied its first Foothill League title, as the Wildcats breezed past 6-2 Golden Valley (Santa Clarita) 35-7 on Friday. They can go for the outright league title next week.
25. Monterey Trail (Elk Grove) 5-2 Does not play. After last week’s game was cancelled vs McClatchy (Sacramento), the Mustangs had their regular bye week this week. They square off with Grant (Sacramento) next week for the Metropolitan League title. Players from Campolindo (Moraga) are shown after an earlier win this season over Aptos. Apple Valley 7-1 There was no trap game before the big game with Oak Hills next week, as Apple Valley had little trouble in a 37-7 victory against Hesperia at home on Friday.
Bishop Amat (La Puente) 5-3 LOST to No. 9 Chaminade (West Hills), 36-29, at home on Friday. A TD catch by Delano Franklin tied the score at 22-22, but the Lancers couldn’t maintain that momentum for the rest of the second half.
Buchanan (Clovis) 7-1 The Bears may never play a normal game this season, as they found themselves down 24-21 at the halftime break to last place Clovis on Homecoming night. Fresno State commit Jayden Mandal then led the second half blowout, however, as the senior had three passing touchdowns in the 45-23 victory. .
Cajon (San Bernardino) 7-1 The defense held strong, as Cajon held Yucaipa to just 144 yards of total offense in a defensive slugfest of a 20-3 victory.
Campolindo (Moraga) 7-0 Defeated Acalanes (Lafayette), 27-24. Dashiell Weaver had three TD passes and one TD run. The Cougars also will move up in next week’s ranking due to an earlier win this season over Aptos, which knocked off previously unbeaten Salinas, 44-41, on Friday.
Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) 3-5 Does not play. The Dons have a bye this week after their back-to-back losses in league to Lincoln and Madison and play their rivals from St. Augustine next week.
Citrus Valley (Redlands) 6-2 Defeated Redlands East Valley 55-6. Team’s losses are to Cajon and Oak Hills with a win over Norco. Head coach Kurt Bruich won the 200th game of his career (which includes many years at REV). He and his dad, Dick, the longtime coach at Fontana and Kaiser of Fontana, also are now the first father-son combo to win 200 games each in state history. He retired in 2006 with 292 career wins.
Del Oro (Loomis) 7-1 The dream of a Sierra Foothill League title is over for an upstart group from Del Oro, as the Golden Eagles fell 34-7 to No. 5 Folsom on Friday.
Liberty (Bakersfield) 6-2 This team has gotten past the final hurdle in its chase for the Southwest Yosemite River League. The Patriots scored 41 unanswered points on once undefeated 7-0 Centennial (Bakersfield) in a 41-7 rout on Friday.
Manteca 7-0 Defeated East Union (Manteca), 61-6, on Friday. Blake Nichelson had two TDs rushing, one TD catch and returned a punt for a score. Central Catholic (Modesto) is up next.
McClymonds (Oakland) 5-1 Mack completed the first of many Oakland Section blowouts, as the Warriors breezed past Skyline 52-0. Murrieta Valley (Murrieta) 5-3 The slide continued for Murrieta Valley, as the Nighthawks couldn’t outpace Chaparral (Temecula) Friday in a 62-49 defeat.

Norco 6-2 The Cougars jumped out to a 25-7 halftime lead over Roosevelt (Eastvale), but needed to hold on for dear life with a 32-27 victory.
Oak Hills (Hesperia) 7-0 The Bulldogs pulled away late against Serrano of Phelan on Friday, as the Hesperia based side eventually rolled to a 37-14 victory. A score late in the fourth quarter by Maurice Parker made it just 28-14 for Oak Hills. The Parker rushing touchdown was a highlight play of staying in bounds by inches.
Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills) 7-1 No close game this week, as Oak Ridge routed Whitney (Rocklin) 55-7 on Friday. Key battles with Rocklin and No. 28 Del Oro (Loomis) for playoff seeding are upcoming.
Oaks Christian (Westlake Village) 6-2 Defeated Westlake (Westlake Village), 52-7. Nate Bennett threw four TD passes for the Lions, who were No. 26 in last week’s rankings.
Rancho Cucamonga 5-2 Defeated Chino Hills 42-0 on Thursday. The Cougars also improved to 2-0 in the Baseline League.
San Clemente 5-3 LOST to No. 8 Mission Viejo, 49-14. There was no home cooking for the Tritons this time against the Diablos.
Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth) 4-4 Defeated No. 13 Serra (Gardena), 35-21, on Friday. This is the best win of the season for the Trailblazers, who have played a tough schedule. Dane Dunn rushed for three TDs and Jae’On Young had a 55-yard interception return TD.
Wilcox (Santa Clara) 6-0 There was no slip up against a struggling Palo Alto side, as the Chargers raced to a 38-13 victory over the Vikings on Friday.
Yorba Linda 8-0 Defeated Villa Park, 31-13. The Aztecs shut down a team that scored 56 points in its previous game.
